About Lori and Intuitive Home Design
I’m Lori Guttormsen - mother, wife, and interior designer based out of Appleton, WI. I believe that the space we live in plays an important role in how we feel. It should be a place of refuge and retreat. A place to unwind and enjoy. A place of love and ease. A place that reflects you, your family, and your values.
Intentional home design creates that kind of environment.
As my husband and I have grown our family, I've become more mindful of the power of organization and processes that allow for ease and flow. Full lives and growing children can attract clutter and chaos. As our homes begin to accumulate things, we may feel drained of energy. This, along with a desire to help others, is what led me to do what I do.
To me, a well-designed home incorporates beauty, function, and a commitment to surrounding yourself with elements that “speak” to you. I believe that the more mindful we are of what we choose to bring into our homes, the greater our capacity for joy. Incorporating the essentials along with an attention to what means the most to you, makes for a more intuitive home. I have seen how small shifts can make big impacts.
My clients come to me with different challenges and goals, but one thing they all have in common is a desire to improve their interior space while not immersing themselves in the process. Life is busy. Few people have the time and attention to devote to making design decisions.
That is where Intuitive Home Design comes in. I provide guidance, recommendations, and a plan to help you define your needs and discover your style. Then I do all the legwork, managing the tasks and details that need to be completed to bring your new space to life.
I was born and raised in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. A graduate of UW-Madison and UW-Milwaukee.
I have a passion for world travel and as a student traveled to New Zealand, Australia, & many South Pacific Islands.
Prior to starting my own family, I worked as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Case Manager, caring for children.
As part of my personal journey and commitment to mindful living, I completed a full 200-hour yoga teacher training.
